As 2017 draws to a close, Serpa Packaging looks back over the past twelve months with a sense of pride. With some impressive product releases and improvements, this has been an incredible year!
It was an exciting moment when we sold our first Serpa Insert Feeder. Our patent pending system increases efficiency by reducing the need for operator intervention. It also solves problems known to occur with friction feeders by utilizing live friction side clamps and live top tabbing to hold and release inserts to be picked by the vacuum pick head and transferred to the containment belts. The new feeder is an integral addition to our product line, and its release has been critical to our year’s success.
In keeping with our history of innovation, we also designed a new Product Rotation System in which air and powered belts rotate and transfer products through the production line. Existing rotation systems are not powered and rely only on product back pressure to push the products through the system. This requires the operator to push the products through the rotation system at the end of a run, which is not required with the Serpa system. This exciting evolutionary design reduces user intervention and engagement with the system, creating a higher level of efficiency, leading to higher, quicker output with fewer challenges along the way!
This year, Serpa also launched the ModPack Semi-automatic Case Packer at Pack Expo Las Vegas. The ModPackTM can be customized for nearly any project and is compatible with all serialization systems and providers. It features a standard modular design which allows it to be easily configured to solve the challenges of any case packing project. The labeling module even swings open to allow full access to the machine and the labeler itself.
At Pack Expo Las Vegas we also introduced our new, smaller redesign of the Inline Case Rotation System. This system allows for the gentle rotation of cases in either direction and can even be configured to include a case labeler. It features an integrated reject system that can be used for open flap rejects or bad label rejects.
Serpa Packaging saw quality innovative designs of new products and efficient updates of previous products. We continued to focus on our mission: to become the end-of-line packaging company of choice by providing the most advanced technology and by establishing long-term relationships with our customers. We pride ourselves on the best customer service in the industry and the ability to offer customized solutions without sacrificing uptime and accessibility.

Whether a facility handles pharmaceutical, medical device, food, dairy, household or other products, packaging lines can be extremely complex operations. While item containment and clear out are both essential for creating an efficient production line, quite often, products must be rotated for proper orientation into a carton or case. However, existing methods for rotating products are typically not powered and are mostly inefficient. But the state-of-the-art Serpa Product Rotation System is a groundbreaking solution developed to address these requirements.
Housed within a heavy-duty metal framework, the unique Serpa Product Rotation System is the only device on the market today utilizing an innovative combination of air and powered belts to rotate and transfer products through the production line. Its powered infeed belts transfer the product into the system. Then, using air and the back pressure created by the belts, propels that product through the system to the helical rotation screws which then rotate it into the correct orientation. From there, the air along with the powered discharge belts, transfer the item out of the system to the next station, such as a conveyor or table, without the need for back pressure, even for the last product in a production run. The system purges itself of the last product without the need for operator intervention.
Ideal for any application where items need to be rotated on the production line to achieve the correct orientation, the Serpa Product Rotation System is also easy to set up and use! Simply place it in the desired production line location, connect it to power and air supplies, insert the correct helical rotation screws, close the frame, and turn on the power and air. From there, the system takes over. And belts are optional, depending on the production systems immediately before and after the system, with additional helical screws available to effortlessly accommodate items of different dimensions.
